Been to long

Wow! Been a long time since I did an update. Been pretty busy though. Work, real life the works. Thats not an excuse though. I need to pay more attention to the blog. Even as I suspect I just get the occasional visitor by accident. So I guess this is really a journal of my gaming ramblings. But even if no one else reads this. Its good for me to write this down. If for nothing else but my own benefit.

So let me tell you what Ive been up to as of late.

I'm the chief Editor of a local gaming fan-zine/newsletter. About to publish issue #3 in a day or two. It has been going well. I wish I was getting some more support from the gaming community. But this is only the 3rd issue. I think people need to see I'm going to be around for a while. Become comfortable with it. Before they start submitting stuff. I would like for it to be a thing for the community to share ideas with each other. So slowly but surely its coming along in that direction. Currently there are three of us contributing articles, adventures, and fiction. Spencer, Michael, and I. They have been invaluable. I couldn't have done it without them.

As far as gaming goes. My Monday night group has fallen apart. Monday night football, new television programs, and a dick weed have broken it up for now. I hope this is only a temporary situation. But quite frankly people are being flakier than usual. Its not just with my game either. Mikes restart of his D&D has had attendance issues as well. So I know its not me. But its still discouraging. Perhaps I can get something together in the next month. Because I really want to run a game.
Ive rediscovered a bunch of old gems recently. Twilight 2000 (2nd ed.), Flashing Blades, Labyrinth Lord (Not an old game but a clone of one), and my latest obsession Space 1889. Oh my god how did I miss this game?! I mean, I saw it for years at the game store. Never gave it more than a passing glance. Oh I wish I would have. I wish I would have discovered this years ago. Such a fantastic setting. I've always enjoyed steam punk. But I'd never discovered a steam punk setting that really grabbed me. Till now. This is it! To think a steam punk game that was produced before the term steam punk was really even used. Is the answer I've been looking for! Their are a bunch of 28mm miniatures for the game too. Which just fuels my interest that much more. I see some of the examples that people on the net have produced. The scratch built aeronefs/cloud ships, and things. So awesome. I wish my painting and building skills were better. I mean the 1/72 WWII Cossacks I did turned out great. But they are no match for the stuff I see some people do. I'm jealous as all get out. Hopefully I will get to run a game in Space 1889 soon.
